CECCHETTI BALLET EXAMS
Mathis Dance Studios participates in Cecchetti ballet exams at all levels, from pre primary into advanced studies. Students in our exam/technique stream ballet classes may be given the opportunity to sit their classical exam during our examination period. Students are chosen based on their class attendance, knowledge of the syllabus, and their high standard of technique and expression.
Exams are useful, not only for qualifications, but to assess the progress of each student. Exams offer incentive for achievements in manageable steps. Feedback from exams is a valuable tool for helping identify the strength of each student and areas that may need additional practice.
Our students have achieved a 100% pass rate for all exams with consistently high results.
Participation in exams is not compulsory and there are no rules dictating that at a certain age a child must be at a certain level. Ballet is an art form that places demands not only on the body but also on the mental capacity and maturity of all dancers at every level - even professionals.
Our role as teachers here at Mathis is to ensure the children enter exams when they are ready and at their best possible chance of doing well. Pushing a child through an exam before they are ready will simply lead to low marks and then a low self- esteem. Students spend 1 - 2 years on each grade with exams usually taking place in the month of July or August each year.
